The Music in the Square Summer Series returns to Evergreen Village Square on Fridays, and the 2026 season has a real footprint. The concerts run weekly from early June through late August, presented in partnership with Councilmember Domingo Candelas, with the July 3 date skipped for the holiday weekend. Classic Rewind is on the calendar for the classic rock covers slot, and the square's businesses run promotions for concertgoers through the summer.
The move most residents miss is timing. Arrive at 6:30 and the plaza is still lit hard by the western sun. Arrive at 7:15, after the shade line has crossed the seating area, and the temperature drops five to eight degrees. The music starts sounding better roughly at the same moment.
Two practical notes for people who have not gone in a season or two. Seating is casual, so a low chair or a blanket beats trying to claim one of the fixed benches. And the Village Square branch of the San Jose Public Library, at 4001 Evergreen Village Square, closes early enough on Fridays that if you want to grab a hold before the concert, the window is narrower than you think.

Sunday is the social version. It runs longer in perceived time because concert-goers, church crowds, and trail walkers overlap between 10:30 and noon. The line at the kettle corn stand and the flower vendor tells you which vendors people are prioritizing that week. If you want the market as an errand, Sunday is the wrong day.
Wednesday is the tactical version. Fewer people, faster in and out, better selection at 9:15 than at 11:00 because the produce vendors are still fully stocked. If you work from home even one day a week, the Wednesday market is the version to know. It also pairs cleanly with a Wednesday walk on the shaded north trail, because both are lightly used before 10.

- Evergreen Inn & Pub, 3273 S White Rd. Breakfast-and-brunch focused with crepes, French toast, and full omelets, plus alcohol. Useful the Saturday morning after a Friday concert.
- Trifecta. The one residents cite for celebration dinners rather than casual weeknights.
- Cali Spartan Mexican Kitchen. The Evergreen location is the cleaner, newer build of the local chain, with a self-serve salsa station that keeps the line moving.
None of these require a reservation more than a few days out on a normal weekend, which is not something you can say about the equivalent dining ring downtown.

- Sunday 9:15 a.m. Evergreen Farmers' Market for the produce and social version. Chain it with the shaded north loop of Silver Creek Trail before it warms up.
- Sunday evening. Silver Creek Community Market for the week's pantry, then a quiet dinner at Evergreen Inn & Pub or one of the newer spots on Aborn Square.
The rotation works because the square is central to three of the four moves, the trails are within a five-minute drive of the square, and the dining ring is inside the same envelope. You are not commuting to a weekend. You are using the one you already own.
